(WIP - 2 more go to but today’s been a lazy day)

it’s been a while since i last posted something on this blog. i’ve been trying to develop a style. i’ve learned a lot over the past 2 weeks and hopefully it will show through in my future drawings

nada2221 asked: Hey, so i've seen what's happened and well of course when i saw your art i guessed that you were influenced by shirow miwa's style, but i've never thought for one moment that you traced or copied his art in any way and it's pretty NORMAL for any person to try to develop their own style by observing other people's art and learning from their techniques. if you want to take a break for a while to improve that's really your choice and it's OK :) anyways what i wanted to say was ...

the rest of your message: “don’t let others bring you down by false accusations. tbh everyone gets criticized in some way whether it’s from people you know or complete strangers and sometimes people give you these criticism to bring you down (mostly cuz they’re jelly lol) but in most cases it’s to give you advice because they genuinely want you to improve. in the end what you think is what matters because dude it’s YOUR art! you can do whatever you want. so yeah try to cheer up and don’t take things to heart >w<”

first off, thank you so much for being so nice and supportive. and i completely agree with you. i’m not taking this criticism personally. i feel like it’s gonna help me develop my own style. i was just pissed and kind of crushed by what they said about tracing and piggybacking cause i know someone one here that used to trace over Shirow Miwa’s sketches and post them on Deviantart + they claimed it as theirs. i am not that kind of person. i can honestly say that i have never traced over a single drawing ever since i’ve started drawing.

but thank you! you’re a really nice person (btw i really like your art. you’re really talented)

awakusu asked: I hate to be the one to send this message, but I mean it with the best intentions, in the case you aren't aware of it. You should really try to stop piggybacking Miwa's art so heavily, especially to the point of (what appears to be) tracing certain illustrations. It will only harm your own artistic growth as well as your reputation among other artists/viewers, most of all when you're taking commissions. It's understandable to be inspired by him but taking whole elements/etc goes beyond that.

i totally get your point and you’re absolutely right. i’m not gonna deny most of the things you’ve said. i literally worship Shirow Miwa.

my art does resemble his style and tbh i don’t really like that either. but then again my style is constantly changing and i’m still exploring different ways of drawing and painting. as fellow artist, you probably know how hard it is to come up with your own style. i’m not there yet.

and let me correct you on something. maybe i’m misunderstanding what you’ve wrote but i’ve never traced anything from Shirow Miwa. i know some of the things i have drawn might have ended up resembling his but i have never traced a single thing. i might have used one of his drawings as reference, but that’s all part of learning how to draw things. so if you feel like i’ve traced anything, please do let me know so i can show you my process work/sketches and everything. i am firmly against tracing and i have never done something that pathetic.

and please keep in mind that a lot of beginners, like me, have role models and usually find inspiration from other artists (professional or amateur) and this might have an influence on their art. that doesn’t mean they’re trying to copy them or anything. even artists like Tike Kubo have said that they’ve been influenced by other’s art and that’s where they find inspiration. that doesn’t mean they’re stealing their style of anything. anyways, my point is, it may take a while for some people to develop their own style and in the process they’ll most likely try to imitate things that inspire them for the sake of learning. back when i announced i was going to work on commissions, my art style was pretty different from how it looks like today, and i am actually really glad that i haven’t gone further with this cause i am really not satisfied with my art style at the moment.

thanks and good day
